Hamamatsu expands electron tube division

Hamamatsu Photonics is expanding its Electron Tube Division facility in Iwata City by extending its offices.

The new building will be constructed on the site of a former building, but will provide approximately four times the floor space of the original facility.

It will be 15,447 square metres and will house 200 people with R&D and production for scintillators, spot light sources, xenon lamps and other light sources, deuterium lamps and its stealth dicing technology.

The Scintillator Product Division will occupy approximately 50 per cent of the total space and the new facility will enable a three-fold increase in production.

Completion of the new facility is around January 2010 with manufacturing estimated to start in February 2010.
