Heptagon opens first US office

Heptagon, a supplier of UV micro-optics has opened its first US office in San Jose, Silicon Valley to provide sales, marketing and business development.

Silicon Valley should provide the ideal platform for Heptagon’s micro-optic components, which are starting to see applications areas such as consumer electronics and telecommunications. The components have been used as flash optics in mobile phones, and for miniature optics for projectors and flat-panel displays. Advantages over traditional components include a low cost and small size.

Heptagon, a Finnish-Swedish company, already has an established customer base in Silicon Valley and North America. ‘We have already seen tremendous interest here to our glass-like lead-free reflow compatible optics,’ said Jyrki Saarinen, the new president of Heptagon USA. ‘I’m very excited to take on the challenge of continuing the growth of out business in the USA.’
