Jenoptix/Phoenix collaboration sheds light in intelligent LEDs

Jenoptik and Phoenix Contact are cooperating on developing intelligent LED machine lights. The collaboration between the two companies is based on a long-term development and supply agreement concluded in 2012.

The machine lights in the new PLD (Phoenix Lighting Devices) range were presented to the public for the first time at Phoenix Contact's booth at Hannover Messe in April. The LED lights are the first of a new generation of LED lighting products.

A PLD communication module can be used to completely integrate the lights into a machine’s control unit by the shortest possible route. The lights use innovative optics to provide efficient and glare-free lighting in the work area. They can be continuously dimmed or operated in stroboscope mode, and can be connected in series if necessary.

The lights can be integrated with protection class IP67 into machines used in electronics production, printing technology, packaging, filling, and the processing of wood, metal, and plastics.

'In Jenoptik, we have found an expert project partner that is in an excellent position to help us expand our project portfolio and successfully break into the industrial LED lighting market, said Martin Müller, head of the networks business unit at Phoenix.

'We have been particularly impressed by their extensive knowledge of LED lighting, optics, and electronics and also their many years’ experience in the development and production of client-specific products.'
