LightPath Technologies wins optical assemblies orders from thermal imaging OEMs

LightPath Technologies has received initial orders from three unidentified original equipment manufacturers for prototypes of its optical assemblies for these customers' respective thermal imaging systems.

LightPath’s development of its thermal imaging business is in the latter stages of upgrading manufacturing capabilities at its Orlando factory. This is to support the anticipated growth in its thermal infrared product lines.

Jim Gaynor, president and chief executive officer of LightPath, said: ‘We are excited by the growing acceptance of the infrared products we offer as we continue to successfully penetrate this $150 million addressable market serving a diverse customer base.’

The company is also continuing to work on its infrared development program with Raytheon Vision Systems. Work is now shifting from producing initial prototypes to developing the necessary production-scale cost reductions to meet the programme’s cost and performance goals.
