SensL, a provider of low light detection sensors and modules, has been nominated as one of the ’30 hot companies’ by the Silicon Valley Association of Startup Entrepreneurs.

SPIE is to discontinue using the name ‘The International Society for Optical Engineering’, originally adopted in 1982. It will now solely be known as SPIE.

It seems there may be an optimistic future for the fibre optic market, with 2006 sales of Fujikura Europe’s splicers having soared to over 125 per cent of the sales at the height of the telecoms boom.
