Coherent is now providing 24-hour shipment of its 25 most popular laser measurement products, including laser power and energy meters, beam profilers and popular accessories. The new service is available for customers in the US, and will be extended to Europe and Asia in the near future.

Sifam Fibre Optics will ship its millionth fused optical fibre component, to coincide with the Laser 2007 exhibition in Munich this June.

SPI Lasers has received fixed orders for a huge $2.8m to provide low-power lasers for medical cosmetic applications during the second half of 2007.

Avo Photonics has appointed Dr Jeff Perkins as vice president of operations. He will manage Avo Photonic’s production services such as bar scribe and break, die and wire bonding, hermetic sealing, and laser characterisation.

Bookham has appointed Dr Pierre Champert as technical sales manager for its high-power laser diode business unit. It is hoped Dr Campert will advance business growth and strengthen customer support across Europe, with a special focus on France.
