Powerlase appoints apps engineering manager

Powerlase has appointed Paul Harrison as its applications engineering manager.

The appointment comes as Powerlase prepares to expand into new sectors and international markets. To date, the laser company has developed applications for a variety of sectors including solar cells and AMOLED (Active Matrix Organic Light-Emitting Diode) display manufacture.

In the new role Harrison will be the overall manager of the applications group, which looks at further expanding Powerlase's applications process development capabilities to meet customer demand. This includes working within sectors where Powerlase has an established presence and with new market sectors considered to have high growth potential.

Harrison has 14 years of experience working with lasers and holds a BA (Eng) in Electronics Engineering from Brunel University. He is currently studying for an Engineering Doctorate at Heriot Watt University. Prior to joining Powerlase Harrison ran his own laser cutting company, Go! Lasers Limited, based in Cardiff.  Prior to this he was a customer support engineer for Zed Instruments Limited, a specialist in high power laser engraving equipment.
