Prism Awards open for entries

Entries are being accepted for the 2014 Prism Awards for Photonics Innovation, an international competition honouring technology and product inventions from the multi-billion-dollar optics and photonics industry. The program is sponsored by SPIE, the international society for optics and photonics, and industry publisher Photonics Media.

Products sold, delivered or launched between 1 January 2013 and 6 February 2014 are eligible. Entries are being accepted online through 20 September at the Prism Award website. The entries will be judged by an independent panel of experts including, industry executives, academic researchers, venture capitalists and past Prism Award winners.

The finalists will be announced in November, with the winners being announced on 6 February during SPIE Photonics West 2014 at a gala banquet in San Francisco.

'The Prism Awards for Photonics Innovation is a leading international competition that honours the best new photonic products on the market,' said SPIE's CEO Eugene Arthurs. 'Over the years, the program has received applications from more than 35 countries around the world. The finalists and winners that are ultimately chosen reflect the diversity of the program and of the field of photonics.'
