Vixar raises $2.5 million in financing from Phoenix Venture Partners

Optoelectronic components and subassemblies supplier Vixar has raised $2.5 million in financing from Phoenix Venture Partners.

The funding will allow Vixar, a start-up that manufactures Vertical Cavity Surface Emitting Laser (VCSEL) products emitting from 660 to 1850nm, to expand its production capability.

Mary Hibbs-Brenner, chief executive officer of Vixar, said: ‘We are very excited about the investment by Phoenix Venture Partners. Their participation is expected to provide significant assistance in market development, as well as solidifying our supplier and partner networks to achieve long-term success.’

Dr John Chen, a general partner at Phoenix will become a member of the Vixar board of directors.  He joins Dr Frank Levinson and Peter Davis, who are already angel investors and on the board.
