Digital Wavefront Sensor

PhaseView has developed a Digital Wavefront Sensor with characteristics superior to commercially available sensors.

The device is available as an OEM product and combines measurement of both laser beam's intensity and wavefront in one instrument and with high resolution (up to 600 x 600 points, limited only by camera resolution).

These real-time measurements can be used for computing the beam's waist, exact focal plane, beam propagation factor and divergence by measuring the intensity and phase of the beam in only one plane as the beam propagates. This is in contrast to the other wavefront sensors requiring a complementary instrument to measure the intensity of the beam.

In particular, compared to the common Shack-Hartmann wavefront sensors and their modifications, in DWS the intensity is measured and the wavefront is computed in every pixel of the camera, whereby the highest possible resolution is achieved.
