Edmund Optics Tucson office moves to accommodate growth and expansion

Edmund Optics (EO), the premier provider of optical components, has relocated its Tucson Design Center to support the company's strong growth and prepare for future expansion. This new facility covers 8,000 square feet and nearly doubles the footprint of the previous space. The design center houses a custom optical and opto-mechanical research and development group, applications engineering, sales, and customer support.

‘The expansion of Edmund Optics' Tucson Design Center is necessary to support the ongoing growth that our company is experiencing,’ says Kurt Abdelmaseh, Engineering Manager, Edmund Optics. ‘This much larger building allows us to further strengthen our design, development and support initiatives to best serve our global customer base.’

EO's expanded office continues to collaborate closely with the highly-regarded University of Arizona College of Optical Sciences and the very active Tucson optics cluster. These relationships with community partners mean that customers benefit from Edmund Optics being at the forefront of optics research and technology development. The office's proximity to the university also lets the company recruit talented graduates in response to its ever-increasing hiring needs. ‘We are grateful to our many partners in the Tucson area such as the University of Arizona, and look forward to bringing additional jobs and opportunities to the community,’ says Robert M. Edmund, CEO, Edmund Optics, and founding member and chair of the UofA College of Optical Sciences development board of directors.

EO's recently created R&D group is a major factor driving the move to larger quarters. This group can now explore new growth opportunities from an expansive 1,000 square foot lab equipped with state-of-the-art processing, machining, and test and measurement equipment. Designed to meet the needs of its Tucson employees, the new facility has functional workspaces and flexible collaborative areas for meetings and trainings. This space also offers work-life amenities like locker rooms and secure bicycle storage for EO's active workforce.

The new Tucson Design Center opened September 19, 2016, and Edmund Optics is celebrating with a ribbon cutting ceremony, November 17, 2016, from 5:30 to 7:30 pm. Guests will include members of the Arizona Technology Council (AZTC), representatives from the University of Arizona, as well as local officials, customers and vendors. More than 100 people are expected to attend the event, which will take place at 6274 E. Grant Road, Tucson, AZ, 85712.
