Opnext has released a 642nm, 150mW, single longitudinal mode semiconductor laser diode with TE mode oscillation, called the Opnext HL6385DG.
This laser diode will be distributed by Photonic Products and offers a high optical output power at a visible lasing wavelength of 642nm. Opnext's device was developed using a new development process, a new waveguide structure and optimised structural parameter.
The device itself is a single longitudinal mode diode with low aspect ratio (<2:1) which, coupled with the small emitting chip size (3 x 1µm), allows efficient combination of multiple diodes in high power RGB white light sources.
