Jenoptik appoints Laser R&D head

Since the beginning of June 2015, Dr. Valentin Loyo-Maldonado is in charge of the Research & Development department in the business unit Lasers of the Jenoptik Lasers & Material Processing division.

Dr. Valentin Loyo has a vast experience in the development of semiconductor and high-power lasers. Since the end of 2014 he was responsible, in the position of a group leader, for the development of diode lasers at Jenoptik. Before that, the Mexican born worked as Vice President Engineering & Manufacturing at Intense Inc. (USA). He takes over the leadership from Dr. Martin Leitner, who left Jenoptik at the end of May.

In his previous positions, Valentin Loyo was responsible, among others, for the product development and test engineering at companies in the USA and the UK. In addition to his comprehensive developmental knowledge, Loyo has gained more than 14 years of leadership and project management experience in multi-cultural teams.

Jenoptik is one of the few suppliers world-wide that provides high-quality and reliable series production of the complete laser beam sources technology chain – from semiconductor materials to diode lasers and solid-state lasers. Jenoptik lasers are very reliable, efficient and powerful. They are mainly used for industry and medical technology.

In addition, Rudolf Humer, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of JENOPTIK AG, and Christian Humer, member of the Supervisory Board, have resigned their seats on the JENOPTIK AG Supervisory Board with effect from June 30, 2015. Both are representatives of the ECE Group based in Vienna.

"After the complete sale of the Jenoptik shares by ECE Industriebeteiligungen GmbH at the end of March, this is a logical step and takes into account the changed share ownership," comments Rudolf Humer on the resignation. He continues: “Personally, I feel a very close connection with the company and also with the Executive Board of JENOPTIK AG and have greatly valued the open and constructive dialogue on corporate and strategic issues. I am certain that the company will continue to develop successfully in the future.” Rudolf Humer has been Chairman of the Jenoptik Supervisory Board for the past seven and a half years.

The Supervisory Board, Executive Board and employees of the Group would like to take this opportunity to thank Rudolf Humer and Christian Humer for their committed and dedicated work on the Jenoptik Supervisory Board. "In recent years, Rudolf Humer and Christian Humer have played an active part in transforming Jenoptik into a profitable, internationally focused technology group, and have helped with the strategic realignment of the Group to provide the necessary foundations for profitable growth," says Michael Mertin, President & CEO of Jenoptik.

The process for finding new candidates for the Supervisory Board has already begun and is expected to be completed by the middle of the year. The candidates proposed by the Supervisory Board are then to be appointed by the court for the period up until election by the next Annual General Meeting in 2016.
