Laser 2000 celebrates 30 years in photonics

Laser 2000 is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year. What started as a three-person team in 1986 has grown into a company numbering over 120 employees across Europe, who collectively generate annual revenues in excess of €50 million.

Laser 2000 has always focused on providing its customers with the most innovative and highest-quality products from the world’s leading manufacturers on a regional level. From lasers and corresponding laser protection products, to high-end lighting and cameras for image processing, to tools for optical measurement technology, to splicers and OTDRs, Laser 2000 offers the perfect products for all types of photonics applications. Customers benefit from extensive employee expertise as well as from seminars, workshops, and device support services offered on a regional level.

In its early days, the company focused purely on sales – today, the focus has shifted to developing system solutions for a range of customer requirements. For 30 years, Laser 2000 has served as a one-stop shop for personally tailored solutions to suit customers’ demanding applications. This family-owned business sets great store by innovation, premium quality, and, above all, the knowledge, creativity, and enthusiasm of its employees. Customers enjoy support from an outstanding, carefully selected team of staff with PhDs and advanced degrees in the sciences, who boast an enormous wealth of knowledge in the field of photonics.

Laser 2000 employees have successfully advised over 14,000 customers to date, and sell products and solutions in 60 countries worldwide.

Armin Luft, founder and CEO of Laser 2000, was appointed to the German Senate of Economy at the beginning of January, on the strength of his 40 years of experience and expertise in the field of photonics. He was appointed because he is a well-known business personality and a pioneer in the field of photonics. The Senate wished to honor Luft’s contributions to German industry and his innovative creative talent. Photonics has become an interdisciplinary field of technology with a bright future ahead of it. Keeping up with advancements in this field will be a crucial factor in ensuring that Laser 2000’s German site remains competitive on the international market. All forecasts indicate that photonics will significantly influence the technological and economic landscape of this century, analogous to the way in which electronics shaped the last century.

Meanwhile, Laser 2000 SAS, which is based in France, is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year. This subsidiary of Laser 2000 GmbH was founded in 1991, and has successfully served the French and numerous francophone markets ever since.
