Schott to extend its sales cooperation with Hellma Optics

The international technology group SCHOTT has reorganized its sales of cut blanks made of optical glass. Effective immediately, Hellma Optik GmbH Jena will take on distribution of small volumes of cut blanks from SCHOTT Advanced Optics in Europe.

The new agreement applies for standard quality cut blanks with a diameter and edge length of under 100 mm and small volumes of up to 100 units. Cut blanks often serve as prototypes for lenses, prisms and aspheric lenses.

“Thanks to this more active collaboration with Hellma Optics, we will be able to offer our customers shorter response and delivery times and thus even more efficient service,” explains Andreas Hädrich, Sales Director EMEA at SCHOTT Advanced Optics. SCHOTT will continue to sell glasses in higher homogeneity classes and with better inclusion classes directly, however.

The two companies began their successful relationship in 2010. Hellma Optics has been handling sales of fine annealed optical raw glass in the form of undivided blocks and bars in small volumes of up to 20 kg for SCHOTT for four years now.
