Free-form lenses for full-LED headlights

Docter Optics, has the technology to produce free-form lenses for full-LED headlights on an industrial scale, which can be used by car makers and their OEMs.

All seven LED projection lenses used in the headlights of the Cadillac Escalade Platinum were supplied by Docter Optics. The assemblies integrate not only high- and low-beam functionality, but also daytime running lights and position lights as well as the side markers that are obligatory in the USA. These headlights, which were developed by Hella in close collaboration with Cadillac, make the Cadillac Escalade Platinum the world’s first SUV to feature full-LED headlights.

The proprietary DOC3D process developed by Docter Optics permits economical production of special lenses for LED headlights. That means headlight manufacturers can now source multiple-lens systems, arrays or even more elaborate variants for the LED headlights of the future.
